Will Led Zeppelin Fly Again? Reunions Rumours Abound…
OK. Sit down. Breathe. According to the rumours, Led Zeppelin have agreed to reform, possibly for a tour. This year.
According to the Mojo blog, they “have spent the last few weeks in dialogue about reforming the band and have rehearsed with drummer Jason Bonham“. Jason is the de facto stand-in for his father John, the original Led Zeppelin rhythm machine.
Of course, when Page and Plant reformed in the mid-90’s, I snapped up a ticket for their Walking Into Clarksdale tour. It still stands out today as one of the biggest highs of my life. Robert Plant was magnificent, his voice matured by age, experience and the ethnic singing techniques he’d perfected during the Unledded sessions. And what can I say about Jimmy Page, the rather quiet English gentleman who can lay claim to having laid the foundations of modern rock and metal? He was nothing short of amazing.
Any seasoned Led Zep fan will know to take reunion rumours with a pinch of salt. The band are notoriously press-shy, and any information so far is vague and speculative. It looks like they may be committed to doing a tribute concert for Atlantic Records’ Ahmet Ertegun, with possibly a tour on the back of that. I guess that we won’t really know until the tickets go on sale. ;)
Here’s hoping, folks! Just keep your fingers crossed.

What made Led Zeppelin rock’s greatest band, was the unique chemistry of four revolutionary and supremely gifted musicians. That chemistry allowed the improvisation in concert that was at times transcendent. The colossal talent of the late John Bonham, manifested by peerless power and groove, was the engine room that powered the mighty Zeppelin. As great as Zeppelin was, far superior to any band today, and as much as I would love to see them again, in reality that dream ended on 9-25-’80. RIP Bonzo.
I’m in 2 minds about this!
I was lucky enough to see Led Zep at Knebworth, and John Bonham died not long afterwards.
So, I’m not sure about a reunion…
But, The Who were magic at Glastonbury (they still had it)with Zak Starkey as their drummer, so Led Zep Mark 2 could work.
I’m sure Zep can sound great with Jason Bonham drumming and Plant is finally giving it another chance.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! And John Bonham’s son, excellent choice, I would expect nothing less from such a fantastic band.
