Not much change in the UK top 10 this week. Standout tracks are Stronger by Kanye, The Pretender by Foo fighters and Shut Up And Drive by Rihanna. Delivery by Babyshambles seems to be getting a fair bit of attention, and rightly so. It’s a vindication of all the hype that we’ve heard about Pete Doherty this last few years.
- Sean Kingston - Beautiful Girls: Kingston is lording it over the charts for the forth week in a row. Still can’t get over the lyric “It was back in ‘99, watching movies all the time, when I went away for doing my first crime” He would’ve been 9 years old!!! Everybody knows the law doesn’t bother with people under 18…
- 50 Cent - Ayo Technology: Seven days since the last UK Pop Chart and that’s seven days of dullness as far as this song’s concerned. Lamest thing Timbaland’s added his name to in a while.
- Plain White T’s - Hey There Delilah: Plainly a great track, although we’re starting to wonder what else the T’s have up their short sleeves. Time to release another toon…
- Kanye West - Stronger: Heard this one on the radio during the weekend. After a few identikit Brit-rock bands, Kanye’s coupling with daft Punk never sounded fresher or more welcome.
- James Blunt - 1973: Where are you James? I can see you in the chart, but nobody’s playing your songs! Radio play for this (admittedly decent) song is pretty thin on the ground for some reason.
- Babyshambles - Delivery: We’re liking the ’shambles more with every listen of this track. Finally ol’ Pete does something to justify the hype and overshadow those various junkie reports.
- Scouting For Girls - She’s So Lovely: It’s pop-rock by numbers, but we like it. Big dumb sing-along choruses are always welcome here!
- Foo Fighters - The Pretender: Big dumb sing-a….oh, said that already. Well, it’s true. Grohl and his compadres show just about everybody else how it’s done. Quality.
- Rihanna - Shut Up And Drive: Listening to this one right now. She’s got a ride that’s smoother than a limousine, and some very smart management. Rihanna is definitely on the path to greatness.
- Timbaland ft Keri Hilson - The Way I Are: The single that just won’t die! We can’t count how long this has been loitering in the top 10, but it’s almost time for Timbaland to make room for some new music!
