UK Pop Charts - 21 October 2007

Hi! Thanks for visiting Unreality Music! If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed for regular updates.

Another week at number 1 for the Sugababes, disappearances from Plain White T’s, Sean Kingston and Feist. Shocking new appearances from Britney Spears and Mika.

  1. Sugababes - About You Now: Looking like this might be one of the biggest singles yet for the Sugababes - completely different style to what they were doing a few short years ago, but they’re definitely adapting and thriving!
  2. Mark Ronson ft Amy Winehouse - Valerie: Why won’t you come on over Valerie? Good to see the talented team of Ronson and Winehouse where they belong.
  3. Britney Spears - Gimme More: Why haven’t we talked about Britney’s bizarre comeback single yet? I don’t know. But here she is in the UK top three singles and without personal appearances of any kind.
  4. Hoosiers - Goodbye Mr A: I heard a live version of this on Radio 1 this morning, and it holds up pretty well. Harmonies were a bit shaky, but it still sounds great.
  5. Ida Corr v Fedde Le Grand - Let Me Think About It: Still got a soft spot for this tune. Still chanting Brackkk like a crazy thing.
  6. Timbaland ft One Republic - Apologize: Timbaland fires off his first love song from the Shock Value album, and it’s as cutting edge as it is romantic.
  7. Mika - Happy Ending: A real grower from Mika, I hope this climbs further for him next week.
  8. Freemasons - Uninvited: I’ve heard this a few times during the week. Excellent disco track, and Bailey Tzuke’s vocal is sweet and vulnerable.
  9. 50 Cent - Ayo Technology: No comment - it’ll probably still be here next week again…
  10. Shayne Ward - No U Hang Up: Honestly thought Ward’s career was dead, but this tune sorta proved me wrong. There’s obviously still a fanbase out there for Shayne, and they’re shelling out their parents’ hard earned cash on his singles.

Final thought: what is it with all the Elvis tracks in the charts? This is the second year they’ve released a slew of singles after his anniversary, but why are they selling so well? Most of the songs I genuinely don’t recognize.
