This week, Kanye West knocked Robyn off the top of the charts with Stronger. Not much change in the top 10 though, most of the action is in the lower half of the charts, some pretty good music on the horizon.
Anyway, here’s the top 10 for this week:
- Kanye West - Stronger: Kanye jumps right in there at #1. No surprises there, since this is a…um….strong single.
- Robyn ft Kleerup - With Every Heartbeat: The 90’s dance style returns - does this signal a new wave of 90’s nostalgia/
- Timbaland ft Keri Hilson - The Way I Are: Timbaland giving protege Keri Hilson a bit of a boost with an unstoppable collaboration. As we said in our review, the female vocal is quite generic and could easily have been done by regular collaborator Nelly Furtado.
- Kate Nash - Foundations: Kate’s hanging on to her chart position by the cracks in her fingernails, proving that the market for Lily Allen-esque wry Cockney wit is far from saturated.
- Plain White T’s - Hey There Delilah: Simply a class tune, mellow and easy to listen to. Still laighing at some of the spoof versions that are out there at the moment.
- Axwell ft Max’c - I Found U: Forgettable dance tune that is completely and utterly surpassed by the video.
- Fergie - Big Girls Don’t Cry: Some people will buy anything, won’t they? This song continues to linger in the charts like a bad smell.
- Gym Class Heroes - Clothes Off: A funky crew who play their own instruments but still find the time to sample the hell out of old tunes, the Gym Class Heroes return with a track as strong as Cupid’s Chokehold.
- David Guetta ft Chris Willis - Love Is Gone: Not as bad a track as I’d initially thought, this kind of dance tune is mainstream enough even for my taste!
- Newton Faulkner - Dream Catch Me: A humdrum track, to say the least. Faulkner fails to live up to the hype his publicists would like us to buy into.
