UK Pop Charts - 14 October 2007

The Sugababes have made it a massive three weeks at the Number 1 spot! All other girl groups bow down before their skinny pins!

Welcome to the UK Top Ten for 14th October 2007. Watching the UK pop chart, you’d be forgiven for thinking that nothing changes from week to week. Top Ten acts generally hang around forever while the rejects tend to fluctuate wildly without a hope of the #1 spot.

  1. Sugababes - About You Now: Still widely regarded as not their best single ever, the Sugababes put in a strong third week at the #1 spot. They’re definitely more poppy and less edgy than they were when they started out.
  2. Ida Corr v Fedde Le Grand - Let Me Think About It: I caught up with this tune during the week and was impressed. While I’m not normally into dance music, there’s been a few tracks recently that’ve stood out for me, this being one. Brrrrack, brrrack!
  3. Mark Ronson ft Amy Winehouse - Valerie: The music is still going strong, even if Amy herself isn’t.
  4. Shayne Ward - No U Hang Up: Being a Radio 1 listener, I’m still surprised that this hasn’t had any airplay at all, despite being one of Shayne’s biggest hits to date.
  5. Hoosiers - Goodbye Mr A: In an overly serious world, thank whatever god you worship for The Hoosiers and their quirky, light-hearted tunes. We’re hearing a lot of this song at the moment and lovin’ every moment of it.
  6. Plain White T’s - Hey There Delilah: Put this one down as one of the biggest hits of the year when those Best Of 2007 shows start rolling in December.
  7. 50 Cent - Ayo Technology: 50 slips a porno song into the Top Ten, horny people everywhere go wild.
  8. Sean Kingston - Beautiful Girls: Damn all you beautiful girls. You had to keep on buying his song. It’s making me suicidal, suicidal. Please say it’s over…
  9. Feist - 1 2 3 4: Alright, I’m not that fond of iPods. I think this one might have run it’s course.
  10. Scouting For Girls - She’s So Lovely: We’ll see this dropping out of the charts shortly to make room for the ever-so-catchy Let’s Dance To Joy Division by The Wombats. It’s the law in Britain that only one frenetic indie single can occupy the top ten at any one time.

I just noticed that Kanye West has finally dropped out of the top ten this week. Not a bad run for Mr West, but we’re all dying to hear what other goodies he has for us.
