UK Pop Chart - 6 May 2007
Hi! Thanks for visiting Unreality Music! If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed for regular updates.
Well, whaddaya think about them pop charts? We’ve got a few new entries into the Top 10 this week (yes, the week’s almost over). Let’s take a look…
- Beyonce Knowles/Shakira - Beautiful Liar: Proof that the combined hip-shaking power of these uber-babes can hold off a vast array of pop-rock talent! If they used their powers for good, they could gyrate for world peace! How noble…
- Manic Street Preachers - Your Love Alone Is Not Enough: - Old school 90’s rock delivered by one of the best bands of their generation, and an unexpected collaboration with Nina Persson from The Cardigans.
- Gym Class Heroes - Cupid’s Chokehold: Cupid’s Chokehold has risen about 5 places since last week. I suspect the novelty is wearing off - it’s not getting the level of airplay I would have expected.
- Timbaland - Give It To Me: Still can’t get enough of this song. Timbaland definitely has the magic touch when it comes to chart-topping R&B material.
- Avril Lavigne - Girlfriend: Strangely, the buying power of zillions of teen girls hasn’t propelled Girlfriend to the top of the charts, but it’s still hanging in there. Down a couple of places from last week though.
- Ne*Yo: Still refusing to rate this rubbish. Can we stop buying his records now? Please?
- Mika - Love Today: Yay Mika! This guy is the champion of quirky pop music in the UK today. Let’s hope he keeps on shaking things up!
- Mark Ronson - Stop Me: Stop Me is slowly slipping out of the Top 10 right now, but Mark’s riding a wave of publicity for his new album Version.
- Groove Armada - Get Down: Just bloody awful.
- HelloGoodbye - Here (In Your Arms): I could try to be charitable, but I think these guys are going to be one hit wonders in a couple of weeks….
Anyone else notice the sharp fall from grace of the mighty Monkeys and Brianstorm? One week in the top ten and straight back out again (they’re at #15 this week). That’s woeful.
Predictions for next week? I think it’ll be all change this week as a lot of entries are starting to slip. I’d welcome some fresh blood, if only to see the back of bloody Ne*Yo!

Is it a coincidence that Beyonce Knowles/Shakira - Beautiful Liar is number 1 on the day Tony Blair announces his resignation. If you play about with the title taking away the ‘eautiful’and adding the B to Liar you getBliar. That’s a word I noticed on the protesters banners at Stormont Tony Bliar
How off topic are your comments here normally? ;-)

Well, I’ve heard some conspiracy theories in my time…but not on this blog!
It doesn’t hold water - Beautiful Liar was number one last week as well, unless they knew ahead of time.
“Hey Beyonce, it’s Tone. Thinking of stepping down as PM. Fancy writing a song for me?”
