UK Pop Chart - 13 May 2007

There’s been some shifting around in the pop charts this week, as the formidable duo - Beyonce, Beyonce and Shakira, Shakira - finally get knocked off the #1 spot by McFly, McFly (sorry).

Travis, who peeked their heads into the Top 10 last week are gone again, while the Manics’ comeback single is already on the way back out. I’m most pleased to see Linkin Park enter the top 10 with What I’ve Done a powerfully miserable song that Unreality Music has yet to cover. Don’t worry, we’ll soon fix that!

McFly - Baby’s Coming Back: Never underestimate the buying power of teenage girls…..
Beyonce/Shakira - Beautiful Liar: Ah, this could be the start of their descent from the top 10. I’m sure both have something equally hot waiting for us, right?
Akon - Don’t Matter: There seems to be no escape from the helium-voiced R&B dude. Don’t matter though.
Gym Class Heroes - Cupid’s Chokehold: Still riding high with their remake of Supertramp’s Breakfast In America. Still loving the tune.
Scootch - Flying The Flag: Whether this was the result of some kind of misplaced patriotism or a cruel practical joke, I hope this band disappear into whatever hole they’ve been hiding in for the last few years. Seriously, can the Queen have them beheaded for treason or something? Go fly someone else’s flag! Hey, they got what they deserved.
Linkin Park - What I’ve Done: Brilliant track! Slap on too much mascara, crank the volume up on this sucker and grind on your imaginary guitar for the next 4 minutes. Sweet.
Timbaland - Give It To Me: Seems like the slowest chart descent ever….
Manic Street Preachers - Your Love Alone: Not getting the radio play it deserves. On reflection, it may sound slightly dated, begging the question “Have the Manics had their day?”
Avril Lavigne - Girlfriend: Listened to her album the other day. You can really spot the singles, lots of filler in there.
Amerie - Take Control: Uh. Take control of me. Whatever you say, Amerie. Welcome to the top 10.
