The Wombats – Moving To New York – Single Review
The Wombats return with the awesome Moving To New York, proving that they didn’t exhaust the supplies of Indie-juice with their last single.
I know I’m late to the party with this one. I always find that I forget to review the singles that I like the most. Like Jay-Z’s Roc Boys. Loved it. Still haven’t written about it.
Anyway, Moving To New York is one of those joyous, frenetic noise-fests. It’s good to see a band who can do infectious without being cheesy, and there’s something about the synergy between the lyrics and the video that makes you feel that, after a week or so of insomnia, moving to New York might actually seem like it’s a logical solution.
For all the morons out there: it’s because New York is the city that never sleeps, hence it would be a good place for an insomniac to live. Because insomniacs never sleep either. Duh.
Verdict: If it’s not too 80’s to use the word ’smashing’, then it’s a smashing track. I’m loving what The Wombats are releasing – it’s fresh and interesting while still having a strong Indie vibe.
Moving To New York is the third single from The Wombats’ debut album, A Guide To Love, Loss And Desperation.
