West London’s Estelle manages to score a home run by getting Kanye West to collaborate and will.i.am to twiddle the knobs on this funky, funky track.

Estelle has been lurking around the lower reaches of the pop chart for a few years now. However, her musical releases have been inconsistent enough that she hasn’t hit the mainstream…until now.

Let’s face it, a collaboration with Kanye is nothing to sneeze at, although hopefully Estelle will get her dues out of this. Unlike OneRepublic when they let Timbaland rework Apologise – most people just assumed it was Timbo’s song.

Now, about that song. American Boy is a delicious and near-perfect pop track. And it’s another one of those songs that reminds us that summer’s just around the corner. Bright, upbeat and funky. And Estelle sounds hella cute in a Lily Allen-sweet way she sings some of her lines.
