Spice Girls Respond To Media Reports About Cancelled World Tour

They bailed on the big reunion tour for pretty flimsy reasons. The media reported that they were at each other’s throats. The fans who missed out went on a rampage on the Internet to complain.

Heatworld reports that one Spice Girls website has closed down in protest after 10 years supporting the group. Like the big media shits they are, they don’t bother to link to the site in question - Spice News. The Spice News moderator said this in a posting:

Spice Girls Fail To Sell Out O2 Concert

Is Girl Power on the wane? It would certainly seem so, as newspapers reported today that despite the massive hype surrounding the Spice Girls first UK reunion show on Saturday night, there are still plenty of tickets left for tonight’s gig in the O2 Arena.

When the girls released tickets for Saturday nights opening show, the tickets sold out in 38 seconds, the girls then added 16 nights to their London schedule. However, the enthusiasm may have been ill advised, as reports suggest that internet touts are now selling tickets at only a third of their face value, in a bid to get rid of their over stock.

Maybe this lack lustre response to the first Spice Girls tour this millenium, will ensure that it is also their last! I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

Spice Girls ‘Giving You Everything’ Documentary

I came across this clip of the upcoming Spice Girls documentary, Giving You Everything, that is due to air in the UK on New Year’s Eve (BBC One, 7PM).

The best bit of the clip has to be when Victoria Beckham admits that none of the Spice Girls were the most talented people that auditioned for the band….What a surprise!

Spice Girls: Watch Emma Bunton Fall On Stage

Emma Bunton has put herself on crutches, after taking a nasty tumble onstage at the Spice Girls Las Vegas gig on Tuesday.

Emma’s ankle is constrained in a black cast, but the aging Spice Girl insists she will be ok to perform at the groups London gigs next week.

Phew!

Lip Synching Spice?

Why am I not surprised by reports that the Spice Girls lip synched their way through their first performance in a decade?

Let’s face it, this reunion has had all the hallmarks of a sham since the news broke. The Spice Girls are - sorry to say - all fur coat and no knickers. They are, however, master manipulators of the media.

And that’s why it doesn’t matter that they’re lip synching. The kind of people who buy into this kind of pop charade don’t really care about the quality of their vocals. When the Spice Girls first broke the music scene in 1995/6, they were fresh, fun and had a handful of catchy tunes. Today, they’re a shambolic five-headed beast more used to being in the pages of Heat Magazine than in the pop charts.

What do you think, are you surprised that the Spice Girls are lip synching? Are you disappointed?

Spice Girls Release Headlines…….And It’s Rubbish!

A few weeks ago we reported that the newly reformed Spice Girls were planning to release a new single titled Headlines.

When I wrote that post I had hoped for a better effort than the song I’ve just listened to. I think to describe Headlines as bland, would be overselling the Spice Girl’s latest effort to top the charts.

With every move the Spice Girls make it becomes more and more obvious that the girls are only in it for the money. From their fake blog, to their rubbish song, the group are obviously just hoping to make a quick few million without having to expend any real energy.

I understand how tempting the idea of getting back together must have seemed when the girls saw the massive success of Take That, but if they aren’t prepared to release decent material, or put a bit of effort and sincerity into their comeback, then they should just go and design some more jeans.

New Spice Girls Blog - Not Very Convincing…

So, the Spice Girls have launched a new blog. We know it’s new because there’s only one post on it so far.

In that said post, Mel C welcomes us to the blog and breathlessly tells us about all the exciting things going on in the Spice Girls camp at the moment. So I thought “Hold on, I’ll subscribe to their RSS feed”, but when I did, I noticed something wasn’t right.

You see, on the website, everything looks alright to the point of including a little JPG of Mel C’s signature. However, when you subscribe to the blog, you’ll see that the entry has been posted by somebody called Daniel.

I appreciate that Mel is probably very busy, but given the huge amount of marketing fluff that she spews out in the post, is it more likely in fact that it was written by some marketing flunkie? You decide.

In the space of one post, she namechecks Mel B’s reality TV gig in the States, the forthcoming Spice Girls single and her own solo single. Not to mention all the shows she’s going to be on.

Something tells me the Spice Girls (or their management) don’t quite understand that blogging is about honesty and connecting with your fans. They’re still busy trying to shift units. Very old school girls.

Spice Girls Donate Headline Profits To Children In Need

BBC Children in Need has announced that the Spice Girls will be donating all of their profits from their new single – Headlines (Friendship Never Ends) – to the charity’s 2007 Appeal.

This single is one of two new songs that the Spice Girls have recorded for their Greatest Hits album and the five-piece will perform the song especially for BBC Children in Need viewers on BBC One on Friday 16 November 2007.

The Spice Girls’ last single release was in November 2000, when the band topped the Official UK chart with the double A-side Holler/Let Love Lead The Way. Read more & comment »

Spice Girls To Release Headlines

Geri Haliwell revealed on GMTV this morning that ther Spice Girls would soon be releasing a new single called Headlines, ironically enough!

Geri said: “It’s a ballad called Headlines and it is out on November 19.”

“Emma (Bunton) and I originally started work on it with some writers we used to collaborate with and then the other girls chipped in with some lyrics. It feels like a Spice Girls classic.”

I’m not sure if that’s a good thing…..
