Fleetwood Mac To Reform With Sheryl Crow?

This news is worthy of at least a raised eyebrow. Fleetwood Mac are planning to reform and release new material and may be joined on this outing by erstwhile warbler Sheryl Crow.

Fleetwood Mac always had two female vocalists until Christine McVie retired from the band in the 90’s, so the idea of bringing Sheryl Crow in as a replacement is sharp thinking, both for the ‘Mac and for the ‘Crow. I’d imagine it would bring together their respective audiences and open up some interesting musical possibilities.

The charts have been Sheryl Crow free for the last couple of years. I remember back in the day, she had this uncanny knack for putting out folk-rock tunes that crossed over into the mainstream and became massive hits.

Then she went and butchered Sweet Child O’ Mine for an Adam Sandler movie soundtrack of all things, and things seemed to nose-dive from there. Maybe her brand of music had just fallen out of favour with fickle pop-purchasers. I don’t know.

The Lord loves a trier as my mother says, and Sheryl Crow is certainly persistent. She’s due to release her sixth studio album, Detours on 18 February.

Sheryl’s hooked up with Tuesday Night Music Club producer, Bill Bottrell for what she describes as the most honest record she’s ever made.
