R.E.M. release the second single from their Accelerate album, Hollow Man on 2 June 2008. In keeping with the R.E.M. renaissance vibe, Hollow Man is a very straightforward, immediate tune.

REM Score A Number One Album With Accelerate

It pleases me no end to tell you that REM have reclaimed their throne with a number one album in the UK charts this week. Accelerate was supposed to mark a return to REM’s early sound, and the punters have voted with their wallets by going out and buying it.

I’ve chatted to a few people recently about REM, and it seems most lost contact with the band after Monster. However, there’s plenty of buzz surrounding this latest album, and I’m excited to hear some of the songs after hearing a sample on Radio 1’s chart show last night.

Accelerate has knocked Duffy’s Rockferry album off the top spot, so I’m looking forward to see what damage their forthcoming single will do to the singles chart.

REM To Play UK Dates To Promote Accelerate Album

REM have announced that they will play four gigs in the UK later this year to promote their new album, Accelerate .

The mini tour will take in the Old Trafford in Manchester on 24 August, Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium the next day Southampton’s Rose Bowl on 27 August and will finish off at Twickenham Stadium, south-west London, on 30 August.

R.E.M. Plan To Rock On New Accelerate Album

They’ve been off my radar for quite a few years, but I hear R.E.M.’s forthcoming album, Accelerate, is going to rock.

Apparently, in an interview with Uncut magazine, Michael Stipe hinted that relationships within the band were at a low point over the last few years and that they have reclaimed their mojo by working out their issues:
