So, the big news this week is the the biggest names in punk (no children, not Green Day) - The Sex Pistols are reforming.
On one hand, it sounds like great news. This is one act people didn’t expect to see together again. On the other hand it seems like a perfect opportunity to cash in on the 30th anniversary of God Save The Queen.
The reason I’m saying that is because I read in NME today that John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten) has been mouthing off about various celebrities on Virgin Radio.

Paramore are another of those pop/punk bands that I’ve only just become aware of for the first time through this new single. Based on their musical style and the fact that they’re fronted by a girl - Hayley Williams - they’re going to draw the inevitable comparisons with the like of Avril Lavigne.

Yes! I just rediscovered PureVolume this evening!
And so that I don’t forget about it, I’m blogging about it. It’s here as a permanent reminder to me!
It seems that PureVolume is a MySpace-type site dedicated to indie/rock/metal bands. And it’s not a bad thing either, some of the artists are fantastic. There’s even a page for Punk Rock darlings, Fall Out Boy!
Actually, on that subject, check out Brunt Of It, a Punk group from Rhode Island. I just stumbled on the group this evening and I’m listening to their Subversive Terrorist song right now…it’s brilliant.
Bands can post notices, photos, dates of shows and they can even keep their fans up to speed with their own blog. PureVolume beats MySpace hands-down with a clean, sexy design and a tightly defined niche which means you pretty much know what you’re getting.
Anyway, I even got myself a listener page, so look me up if you’re a member!
