With the release of Pumpkin Soup and previously Mouthwash, it’s obvious that Kate Nash’s inspiration for new songs comes from walking around the house and pointing at everyday objects. I’m eagerly awaiting the release of Tampon. It’s bound to happen.
Anyway, Pumpkin Soup is alarmingly upbeat. I was sort of expecting something droll and lumbering from Nash, but it’s full of rowdy brass and Cockney chorus shouting.

As the video for Kate Nash’s new video begins, we see her single-handedly attempting to bring back the lost art of air piano. It never caught on first time round, but who knows?
Mouthwash – Kate’s second single from her Made Of Bricks album – is yer basic ode to normality, innit? Who better to sing such a song than a gal who could have just walked off the Eastenders set?

Initial thoughts on hearing Kate Nash’s Foundations: can the market bear another Lily Allen type act?
Nash ticks all those Lily Allen hallmarks: Gobby, witty Cockney girl, full of attitude, has a sort of singing/talking thing going on. Oh yeah, giving loads of verbal abuse to some poor (fictional?) bloke.
