<p>We were <strong>not</strong> expecting this. A few years ago, the Observer Music Magazine was trumpeting <a href="http://www.guillemots.com/">Guillemots</a> as the next big thing. Thing is, they never really hit the mainstream. And judging by how absurdly offbeat they are, I didn&#8217;t really expect them to hit the mainstream anyway.</p>
<p>And the story should end there. Except they went and unexpectedly released <em>Get Over It</em>.</p>
<p><span id="more-828"></span></p>
<p>How to do this single justice? <em>Get Over It</em> is a jubilant, over-dramatic ride that stops off via the 1980&#8217;s and steals some of the decade&#8217;s essential musical themes.</p>
<p>The Guillemots have finally released a song that the general public <a href="http://iguessimfloating.blogspot.com/2008/02/mp3-guillemots-get-over-it.html">can get down with</a>, while still being true to their own quirky style. And every jaded music reviewer should be welcoming this band with open arms for putting out such fantastic, fresh music.</p>

<p>Written by Fyfe Dangefield and co-produced with Adam Noble, &#8216;Annie, Lets Not Wait&#8217; is the fourth track to be taken from the debut album and follows the hit singles &#8216;Trains to Brazil&#8217;, &#8216;We&#8217;re Here&#8217; and &#8216;Made-Up Lovesong #43&#8242;.</p>
<p><span id="more-35"></span><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LAVp56u9HQ" target="_blank">The video</a> to accompany the single is beautifully animated and apparently aims to recreate the visual feeling of one of the first feature length animated films ever, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Adventures_of_Prince_Achmed">Die Abenteuer des Prinzen Achmed</a>.</p>
<p>The single has been released on two cds and also on seven inch vinyl. <a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.co.uk%2FAnnie-Lets-Not-Wait-Guillemots%2Fdp%2FB000LPR0Q6%2Fsr%3D8-1%2Fqid%3D1168895889%3Fie%3DUTF8%26s%3Dmusic&amp;tag=theleveebreak-21&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;camp=1634&amp;creative=6738">CD1</a><img src="http://www.assoc-amazon.co.uk/e/ir?t=theleveebreak-21&amp;l=ur2&amp;o=2" style="border: medium none ! important; margin: 0px ! important" border="0" height="1" width="1" /> features a bonus strings-only version of &#8216;We&#8217;re Here&#8217;, while <a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.co.uk%2FAnnie-Lets-Not-Wait-CD%2Fdp%2FB000LPR0PW%2Fsr%3D8-2%2Fqid%3D1168895889%3Fie%3DUTF8%26s%3Dmusic&amp;tag=theleveebreak-21&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;camp=1634&amp;creative=6738">CD2</a><img src="http://www.assoc-amazon.co.uk/e/ir?t=theleveebreak-21&amp;l=ur2&amp;o=2" style="border: medium none ! important; margin: 0px ! important" border="0" height="1" width="1" /> features the demo track &#8216;Photograph&#8217;, the Live Lounge recording of Franz Ferdinand&#8217;s &#8216;Take Me Out&#8217; and the accompanying video. The <a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.co.uk%2FAnnie-Lets-Not-Wait-VINYL%2Fdp%2FB000LPR0QG%2Fsr%3D8-3%2Fqid%3D1168895889%3Fie%3DUTF8%26s%3Dmusic&amp;tag=theleveebreak-21&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;camp=1634&amp;creative=6738">7&#8243; vinyl</a><img src="http://www.assoc-amazon.co.uk/e/ir?t=theleveebreak-21&amp;l=ur2&amp;o=2" style="border: medium none ! important; margin: 0px ! important" border="0" height="1" width="1" /> includes the B-side &#8216;In Your Arms&#8217;.</p>
<p>I have only listened to this song a few times now and already I can&#8217;t get it out of my head. If all the Guillemots songs are as catchy as this I am definitely going to buy the album!</p>
