A bit like the folks at Urban Review, my first thought when I saw the video for will.i.am and Cheryl Cole’s single, Heartbreaker was “Hell, British artists must be hot in the States right now.”
My second thought was “When did Cheryl Tweedy start calling herself Cheryl Cole? Did I miss a memo on that one?”

Alright, forgetting about Can’t Speak French for a moment, why has no-one noticed that Nadine Coyle has been replaced by a cyborg? Come on, are you ignoring the increasingly robotic movements in Girls Aloud videos, or the fact that she no longer goes on reality TV expeditions with the gals?
I’m only mentioning this for a talking point - is Nadine the killjoy of the group? I mean “I only do stuff to promote Girls Aloud” What the hell? It’s not like they’re U2 for God’s sake - they’re a tease act, like the Pussycat Dolls only paler. And with better songs.
The Sun is reporting that rent-a-gob Sarah Harding is putting together a plan for a solo career.
However, the word is that she’s been knocked back by several high profile management teams. Despite this, Sarah apparently harbours a dream to be “Britain’s answer to Kylie Minogue”. I have three words for Sarah…

Face it, there are certain members of a pop group who can carry a career beyond their original band. Nadine’s probably best known for her singing voice. Cheryl and Kimberley are the stunners of the group. Sarah unfortunately is best known as a gobby ladette.
With the Spice Girls looking like dried up, surgically altered old hags, it looks like Girls Aloud are carrying the flag for Girl Power these days. And what better anthem for nu-female attitude than the theme to the St Trinian’s movie?
It’s nice to see GA doing punky and nasty for a change instead of their usual polished videos.
Say what you like about them, but Girls Aloud have consistently released good pop music since they graduated from Popstars: The Rivals all those years ago. Surfing through the music channels, there always seems to be a best of Girls Aloud programme running.
Call The Shots is the latest single from the girls, and once again it’s a belter.
This is too much…Girls Aloud. In PVC catsuits. With a really rockin’ new tune.
Let’s face it, these girls are probably the best musical act to originate from a reality television show. They’ve had a string of major hits in the UK, whoever is selecting their songs for them is a genius (and we suspect it isn’t Louis Walsh).
I hear Girls Aloud have a new single coming out called “Sexy No No No”. I could review that song. But I don’t want to.
Let’s go on a little journey into the annals of history and review Sound Of The Underground instead, their debut single. It was back in the heady days of 2002 when Girls Aloud won Popstars and released this just in time for Christmas.

The prospect of pure pop Girls Aloud ‘versus’ the more urban Sugababes was quite exciting in an eye candy alert kind of way. But the choice of Aerosmith and Run DMCs Walk This Way was ultimate sacrilige.
On their own, Girls Aloud and Sugababes are class acts and have both managed to pull off fantastic cover versions in the past.
