Chest-beating Canadian diva Celine Dion is about to embark on her ‘Taking Chances’ world tour on 15th February.

The tour will be in support of her latest album, and will last until the end of January 2009. Apparently Dion is still a major attraction, and ticket sales for this tour have broken a number of records.

In an interview with Billboard, however, she says she’s going to try and have more fun on this tour:

We would never attempt to beat anything we’ve done in the past, so we’re not trying to do a better tour — we’re trying to do a successful tour. When you’re stable for a while, it’s nice to move the furniture around and to vacuum under the sofa, to clean out the attic. So we want to have a good time and try new things, different things.

She may not be the most fashionable diva on the block, but Celine Dion still has a string of massive hits behind her that can fill up any arena you care to think of. Her residency at the Colosseum in Las Vegas saw her perform to 3 million people over a staggering 717 shows.

I’d go along to one of her concerts just for her comedy-rock performance of My Heart Will Go On. One of the reasons why I could always watch Leonardo DiCaprio freezing to death in the ocean with a smile on my face…

Celine Dion has announced dates for two UK concerts after her five year Las Vegas stint comes to an end

The Canadian star will perform at the Manchester Evening News Arena on 2 May, and London’s O2 arena on 6 May. The shows will be part of her 2008 world tour which will kick off in Johannesburg on 14 February, with a benefit concert for the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund.

“These past five years of performing at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas has been an incredibly rewarding experience for myself and my family, but I’m ready to hit the road again, with my husband and son by my side,” the 39-year-old said. Read & comment »
