How best to describe Booty Luv? They’re a disco-pop juggernaut, I suppose. I’ve lapped up everything they’ve released to date, and I might – wait for it – throw down some dough and buy the album. (Yes, you’d think they’d send it to me for free. They might after this review!)

Some Kinda Rush is… wow. Just awesome. And guess what, it’s their own work. While they’ve worked their magic on covers up until now, Some Kinda Rush is ORIGINAL MATERIAL. And it may just be the best thing Cherise and Nadia have released to date.

Featuring the girls in a bright yellow sports car, my only criticism is that Some Kinda Rush would have been a far bigger hit in the summer. Instead it was released on Christmas Eve.

This is pop music at its most perfect. No joking. Reviewers are tossing around adjectives like bodies at an orgy – explosive, amazing, turbo-charged, BETTER THAN AMAZING. I think I need to sit down for a minute…

The BBC are describing the girls thusly: “With the Sugababes now little more than a pale imitation of Girls Aloud, Popland is crying out for some talented ‘gals with attitude’ and Booty Luv seem the perfect fit.”

Moreover, Digital Spy correctly point out that if Kylie had released this song, she’d have wiped the floor with Leona Lewis in the December charts. Ah well, hindsight’s a wonderful thing.

In this strange tirade, she acknowledges that Allen is a fine songwriter, but says “Sometimes you wonder why Lily says the things she says. Is it because she really feels that way or because she’s just trying to get a bit of attention? You can’t really tell what her motive is and that is what’s quite unattractive about her.”

Now – let’s apply Nadia’s deductive reasoning to that statement. Specifically the bit about “sometimes you wonder why she says the things she says”.

Why did Miss Shepherd make that comment? It wouldn’t have anything to do with Booty Luv having a new single out and needing to create a bit of noise to promote it?

I just hope that Lily doesn’t rise to what is obviously such a blatant and – quite frankly – petty attack from someone who’s just trying to get a bit of free publicity off her name.

If Nadia recognises that Lily is a good songwriter, surely she realises that Lily writes about everyday issues that she encounters. And that she’ll probably speak out about those things as well. It’s just a shame she chose to make that pointless attack, because I really like Booty Luv, and if they had the same faith in their music, they wouldn’t resort to cheap stunts like this to promote themselves.

It isn’t a complicated formula – take a bunch of old-but-good dance tunes and give them a slick and sophisticated makeover. What Booty Luv do best is produce already memorable dance tracks with a contemporary twist.

As you might imagine, some purists have a problem with the updating of these classic tracks. Not me. Sometimes you just need a good beat to bob along to, and while I don’t look good on the dancefloor, there’s an audience out there who will just lap this up.
