Scouting For Girls – She’s So Lovely
The BBC Radio chart blog has summed up the Scouting For Girls single very well by suggesting that there’s a new era of Britpop emerging:
There’s the Feeling, Kate Nash, the Hoosiers, Jack Penate, this lot, the Maccabees, that Mika fella (I know, move on)…and they’re all making upbeat, uptempo, quirky pop which is stuffed with pretty harmonies and summery joy.
And funnily enough, I’d found myself likening Scouting For Girls to The Hoosiers. And The Holloways when they did Generator.
Basically, it’s all good fun, uptempo music that blends in with all those other bands until you don’t really care who’s playing, you’re just singing along with the chorus.
One other thing: Scouting For Girls. In a bowling alley. = Bowling For Soup. Am I the only one who got the two confused (momentarily)?
