Same Difference – We R One – Single Review

I think it’s interesting that the debut single from Same Difference doesn’t even remotely hint at the fact that they’re a British act. A British act who made it big on the back of a British reality TV show.
For those of you who don’t know (or possibly don’t remember), Same Difference are the brother and sister act who made it through to the finals of 2007’s X Factor. Their squeaky clean act was perfectly suited to High School Musical type songs and performances.
Well, the debut single – We R One – is a perfect mix of all those American teen shows like HSM, and there’s a bit of styling from Grease in the mix too.
The song is unashamedly upbeat and cheesy, with Cadillacs, letter jackets and bright colours assaulting your eyeballs from every angle. Sarah and Sean are all toothy grins as they bounce around doing their all-American thing!
Except they’re not American. But that doesn’t really matter.
Expect bubblegum pop and lots of fun from these two. And because it’s nice, inoffensive stuff and Sean and Sarah are such a nice pair, I won’t see the clouds on the horizon when the High School Musical thing wears off, or people realise that a brother and sister act haven’t been successful since The Carpenters (correct me if I’m wrong, please).
But like all bubblegum pop, enjoy it now, because it’s good pop music, at least 5 times better than Leon’s single, and these two really are just lovely people who deserve a break.
