Ryan Baustert from Throw The Fight has recommended today’s band, A Verse Unsung. They’re a power-punk four piece from Minneapolis, Minnesota.
With most of the members fresh out of high school, you’ll be surprised at how hard these guys rock. Their MySpace profile boasts almost 10,000 fans, and their older songs have been listened to roughly 20,000 times each.
Listen to a few tracks on their pages and you’ll discover a band who can deliver crushing riffs and head-pounding beats. Cali, their most popular track on MySpace is the perfect example. Vocalist Jake Scherer handles the screaming melodically and effortlessly - get to know the words and you too can shout yourself hoarse with this band!
Wanna know a bit more about A Verse Unsung? Here’s a clip from their MySpace page:
The band gets their roots from punk and pop alike, and with their wide appeal they have a unique bond with fans. Taking this sound on the road for their first inter-state tour and steadily gaining momentum in their national college radio campaign, AVU is giving people everywhere a reason to rock again. Still fresh out of high school, Jake Scherer, Aaron Gates, Dan Garland and Kenny Fritze have put together an unapologetic and refreshing new sound that rocks.
The songs are honest, expressive, and come from the heart. Ballsy licks and surprising melodies come packed with real talent as the band’s songwriting catches a relatable, kinetic chord. These guys are the real deal – they’ve got a barn, a van, and a handful of dollars; but listen to their CD or better yet go to a show and you will see why people are listening and buzz is flying about the best new sound of rock – A Verse Unsung.
I trawled about and found a video of the guys live - it’s not the best quality, but it’s all we’ve got!
If you like A Verse Unsung, now’s a good time for you to get into them - their CD, Sleeping Tigers comes out on 6th November and will be available for digital downloads - details on the band’s MySpace page.
