Paolo Nutini - New Shoes - Single Review

I’ll save the rant about Paolo Nutini’s name for another day. (Is it a stage name? It must be.)
Bizarrely, New Shoes seems to be the kind of song you either love or hate. It’s certainly attracting a lot of negative reaction.
I like it because it’s an upbeat acoustic track. I’d love to go round and hit James Blunt with this song -not every acoustic song has to be mired in misery. I haven’t been into Paolo Nutini much until now, but I like his easy going delivery and the simple acoustic groove of the song. New Shoes reminds me of Tom Petty in that lazy drawl, but with a hint of a Scottish aceent. Obviously.
New Shoes is just a simple feel good song. Not the deepest of lyrics all the same - guy gets some new shoes and suddenly his problems disappear. Fantastic. Get me a size twelve. That’s right, twelve baby…
Needless to say, thumbs up!
