It looks like Dr Pepper might be have to buy America a drink after all, as the makers of the Rock Band 2 game secure a brand new GNR song, Shackler’s Revenge for the upcoming release.
This inches the group closer to a potential album release. Will it still be called Chinese Democracy? Your guess is as good as ours. The fact still remains that even if the album gets released, it won’t be Guns N Roses in the way we know and love them (i.e. 1987 - 1994 era). Essentially, it’ll be an Axl Rose vehicle, 14 years after their last release.

Oasis have released the title, cover art and track listing for their 7th studio album, Dig Out Your Soul. And you thought their mate Paul Weller had exclusive rights to use the word ’soul’ in his album titles.
Maybe we’re reading too much into the Gallagher brothers’ Beatle’s fixation, but does that scrawled title within the circle below remind you just a little of the Sgt Pepper’s bass drum?

Linkin Park are no strangers to hooking up with heavy-hitting rap acts, so this collaboration with Busta Rhymes had us pretty excited. At first.
Don’t take this the wrong way guys, but after a few listens you realise you’re waiting for one of those massive Chester Bennington choruses that the LP do so well. We Made It bubbles under with tension all the way through, all sinister piano lines and gruff lyrics, but there’s no real ‘high point’ to the song and you walk away slightly disappointed.

Estelle’s been moaning to Celebs On Sunday about being misquoted by The Guardian - if you remember the story, she apparently dissed both Duffy and Adele for not being soulful enough. Run that through the headline-o-meter and the context seemed to imply that she was saying that them there white folks had no business singing soul songs.

There’s never been a better time to remind you about Stonefoxx - a girl group we first wrote about last September. The girls have been great about keeping in touch with us ever since, even inviting us along to their gig supporting Shayne Ward in Belfast a couple of months ago.
Although we couldn’t make it that night, we got sent a brilliant showcase DVD and CD featuring some of their music. Given the woeful state of British pop music and the fact that Girls Aloud may disintegrate over the next 12 months, and you’ll start looking for the next big UK pop group.

We don’t know what it is about this pairing of Alex Turner and Miles Kane, but Standing Next To Me and previous single The Age Of The Understatement are in a different league to the Arctic Monkeys altogether.
There’s a retro 60’s feel to this music, but with a dark intensity that underlies the song. The video reinforces this with the guys decked out in early Beatles-era suits and surrounded by dancing girls in equally 60’s style costumes. Everything is shot in a low light, and the only splashes of colour are the girls’ tights.

Of all the stupid things a potential parent might say, comparing having a child to making a record is about as idiotic as it gets. According to NME, the Fall Out Boy bass-spanker (rhymes with something else appropriate, huh?) has said it’s “like making a record, but knowing you’re going to mix it for the next 18 years of your life.”
Yeah, Pete, come back and speak to us when you’ve spent a few years changing nappies. Having a child is nothing like making a record, you naive fool. We wish the guy all the best with his new baby, but it’s obvious Wentz has absolutely no frame of reference for something this big and is struggling to relate it to something he understands.

This week’s top ten is dominated by female artists - Rihanna, Gabriella Cilmi, Sara Barielles, Duffy and…Jordin Sparks?
Yeah, it seems like there’s still life in Miss Sparks’ career after all.
Better yet, we have the return of Ne-Yo and his more youthful counterpart, Chris Brown. Brown makes a double appearance in the top ten with Forever and duetting with Jordin Sparks on No Air.
