The word on the street today is that Motley Crue have a new single in the pipeline called Saints Of Los Angeles. Apparently we have to get down on our knees and pray to them.
I’ve listened to the track (some kind soul has put a copy on YouTube) and can say I’m shocked. This is exactly like old school Motley Crue. And that, music fans, is a good thing.
This is the first material from the original Crue line-up in well over 10 years, and while they were going soft around the Dr Feelgood era (not that I minded), Saints Of Los Angeles takes us back to early 80’s Crue with some red hot riffage courtesy of Mick Mars.
My biggest fear when an act like this reforms is that the new material won’t match up to their impressive back catalog. For instance, Poison’s later material has been less than exciting, and Bon Jovi are a country act these days.
But Motley Crue seem to have got it right, with a very authentic recreation of their old sound. No pretence, no bollocks, just the kind of music and attitude that made us love them first time round. Welcome back Crue!

I’m loving the new Crue song, and I’m loving this positive review. Crue’s never been a band to get good press, but it’s nice to see a supportive article on them. Well done.
