Mika – Love Today
Thank God for Mika! Since he burst on the scene with Grace Kelly, I’ve been certain he’d liven up a predictable pop industry.
There’s no denying that Mika’s a quirky, eclectic dude. He’s got a gangly, awkward way of performing, but a sort of camp exotic charm too. (plenty of speculation around the web). Anyway, I really like what he’s doing musically, although I was a bit surprised that he chose Love Today as the follow up single instead of Lollipop, which is just begging to be released.
Surprisingly, the folks over at Singles Jukebox hate the song:
I’m meant to overlook the irritating vocals tics, the complete lack of a compelling melody, and the fact that this castrato clown has a music career when he should instead be tutoring ex-Abu Ghraib guards on more effective torture techniques.
All I can say is they’d better get used to it, because this tune is going to be all over the radio in the very near future.
And I like it. It’s an upbeat, pumping tune. I can’t understand a single damed word Mika’s singing, but since when has that made a difference? I love the fact that he went for a performance video this time round, too. Check it out:
