Linkin Park – Shadow Of The Day – Single Review

Linkin Park - Shadow Of The Day

Shadow Of The Day is the third single from Linkin Park’s Minutes To Midnight album.

Now, although they’re not know for being a chirpy and upbeat band, Shadow Of The Day is probably the most depressing song I’ve heard recently. Unlike their better songs, Shadow doesn’t have that awesome climax and the words barely trouble Chester Bennington’s vocal chords at all.

The BBC Chart Blog calls them on ripping off U2. I think that’s a fairly valid observation. Out of all the songs on Minutes To Midnight, I wouldn’t have thought Shadow was a candidate for release as a single.

Also, what’s with Chester being the only member of the band in the video? Is it the Chester Bennington show now? We’ve heard a lot about Mike Shinoda’s reduced role in the songs from the album. I can’t help missing Shinoda on this song…
