Lily Allen – Not Fair – Single & Video Review
Lily Allen is a master (or is that mistress) in the art of misdirection – while we’re all scratching our heads at her new country-music inspired song, Not Fair, Lily is singing sweetly about “spending ages giving head” which conveniently rhymes with “lying in the wet patch on the bed”.
While those lyrics put her in the running for “Perfect Woman” material, the hoedown video weirds me out completely. I think they almost did a little too good a job of transforming Lily into a country star from yesteryear, didn’t they?
As far as the single goes, it’s passable fare, but more of a novelty record than something that stands alongside Lily’s other songs.
I enjoyed The Fear, but I have a deep-seated loathing of this kind of kitsch countrified music that it turns me off. It’s not you Lily, it’s me. Honest.

Pretty much spot on ! Takes me back to Hee Haw and the weak color of television at the time.
I haven’t quite made up my mind about here yet. I think a good club mix of one of her songs may turn me.
Bad song choice for a single release, I think she should have releases “Everyone’s at it”.
Interesting comments, though I would nominate this song as ‘classic’ Lily Allen – extremely sly, clever lyrics hidden under an Essex Girl front with a catchy tune.
There were better choices. (1) I could say (2) Everyone’s at it. But it is a song written specifically for live shows. That’s how she makes her money, (not record sales) so with a cleaned up version (Kneading bread HA! HA!) people will continue to buy tickets Everyone’s at it may be too controversial, perhaps, Chinese would do!
It’s not about how she spent ages giving head. It’s about the rumor that she spent ages giving head.
