Miss Leona Lewis should be celebrating in a big way today as Bleeding Love has hit the top of the US pop chart. According to the BBC, this makes her the first British female in over 20 years to do so.

I think a moment’s silence is called for. [Insert silence here]

Now, I probably say this every time I write about Leona, but I love the girl. Not in the same way that I love my wife, children and indeed food. But I was at the X Factor press conference on the night she won the show and ever since, Leona’s career has had a special interest for me. She was overwhelmed to have won that night, and there was a determination in Simon Cowell’s eye that she would be the first X Factor winner to graduate to an international stage.

Simon’s promise to make Leona a superstar has been honoured. Good for him, good for the credibility of X Factor and great for Leona. Wait until they get a look at her in the Better In Time video. A stunningly beautiful pop star with a phenomenal voice who isn’t relying on her cleavage to cement her career (sorry, Mariah).

The reports are saying that it was an appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show that sealed the deal. Whatever, we’re as pleased as the proverbial punch here at Unreality TV, so congratulations to the dream team of Leona and Simon. It’s nice to finally see an international star emerge from UK Reality TV.
