It would be easy to write this off as one of those repetitive old 90’s dance tracks that has an unknown female singer doing vocals. And in that respect, unless you’re familiar with no-surnamed Swedish singer/songwriter Robyn, this is another dollop of faceless pop.

In fairness, while I found this type of material abhorrent back in the day, With Every Heartbeat is quite a nice song. OK, it probably has more appeal to the Chav population (or Spides/Millies on this side of the ocean), but it’s got a mainstream appeal. Authentic strings and shimmering ripples of electronica running throughout are pleasant enough.

Because it’s totally lacking in any kind of crescendo, it’s the kind of song you’re more likely to fall asleep to. But that isn’t a totally bad thing.
