Just Jack - Glory Days - Single Review

Hi! Thanks for visiting Unreality Music! If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed for regular updates.

Watching the video for Glory Days - doesn’t Just Jack look a little bit like Tony Mortimer from East 17?

Any while we’re at it, is it prejudiced to think that anyone singing in a Cockney accent is an Eastend barrow-boy made good? Admit it, when you heard Starz In Their Eyes you thought Just Jack was another one-hit wonder headed for the bargain bins. I did.

So Glory Days exceeds expectations just by being released. It’s Jack’s version of Lily Allen’s LDN, innit? Well, without the uptempo bounce…

Glory Days has been getting a fair bit of airplay, and deservedly so. It’s a smooth, laid-back track with an equally easy-going vocal from Jack. It actually goes some way toward distancing himself from the other white rapper in the neighbourhood, Mike Skinner.

The video is clever, Jack’s t-shirt changes with the lyrics, providing a symbolic subtitle to the entire track. It’s great crack, but I’d love to see him pull that high-speed costume change off on-stage! Just so you know, this is a great track. And I’m even surprising myself by giving Glory Days a thumbs up!
