Miss ‘Rear Of The Year’ hasn’t released many singles recently, to the extent that many of us thought the coast was clear and came out of hiding. In her pop heyday, we got tired of the gratuitous ass shots and the samey sounding singles.

Do It Well doesn’t break any new ground for J.Lo, and it’s mostly a return to her strengths - pumping beats accompanied by disco strings with no real requirement for a world-class vocal. Still, not a bad track to wiggle your big round ass to…

The video owes a lot to the good work done by Xtina’s Dirrty and even Nelly Furtado’s Maneater. Lots of S&M and bondage shots. Like we haven’t seen it all before. For an act of Lopez’s calibre, you’d expect something less derivative.

In short, Do It Well ticks all the right boxes, reminds us who Jennifer Lopez is (for the goldfish among us), but comes up short in the originality stakes. I’d be more interested to hear what the second single from the new album - Brave - brings.
