Registration for the UK Live Earth concert officially opens at 1200 BST. The show at London’s Wembley Stadium on 7 July is one of seven worldwide concerts and will feature Madonna, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Snow Patrol.

Fans have 72 hours to register for the show, which highlights climate change. The £55 tickets - limited to two per person - will be allocated by ballot.

“At the moment we have no firm idea about what the demand will be like,” a spokesman said.

“With this sort of line-up and the nature of the event we expect a lot of demand, but until the registration opens it’s difficult to be sure,” he added.
