What the crap? According to Blabbermouth, Dave Grohl has penned an open letter to Metallica, urging them not to release their new album until it’s ready.
I have to say - I don’t understand it. I keep thinking “What’s Dave’s motivation for writing an open letter to Metallica?” I mean, baiting Metallica is huge. And Foo Fighters don’t have anything new coming out at the moment, do they?
Here’s the text of the ‘open letter’:
Dear METALLICA,
Hey, it’s Dave! Remember me? Yeah, I’m the guy that’s been listening to your band faithfully since 1983. I bought your first album ‘Kill ‘Em All’ from a mailorder catalogue called Under The Rainbow, I think. Actually I can’t remember. It was 1983 for Christsakes! But that album changed my life and I’ve been listening to your albums ever since (even ‘St Anger’!).
I can’t wait to hear the new shit, and no matter what you guys do I’ll always be first one at the shop waiting to hear it. I’m sure you’ll come out and blow everybody’s fuckin’ minds, because you’re fuckin’ METALLICA!
Good luck. And don’t release it until it’s kick-ass.

P.S. Are you finished recording the drums yet?
Here’s the thing: I can’t find this published on any official website. I’m wondering why? Also, the text basically implies that Metallica have been letting quality control on their recent work slide a little (even St Anger).
Is Grohl looking to start a war of words with the hairy ones? I can’t imagine who’d win that battle. Metallica lost a lot of ground since the new millennium, but I’m not sure if the very mainstream Foo Fighters have the credibility among the rock establishment.

The “rock establishment”? Puullleeezuh! Seriously, who do you think you are? The Foo Fighters rock and Dave Grohl can say anything he wants. Furthermore, if you visit their website you’ll see a letter posted by Mr. Grohl to clear up the ridiculous speculation by you and others like you (read: insignificant twerp pundits with not one iota of talent of their own)… geesh! Get over it! Do you realize how asinine and pretentious you sound when you make these statements?

I call “troll” on Andrew above - you were only commenting on what Blabbermouth had reported. And if Andrew had bothered reading the post properly, he know that you called into question the validity of Dave Grohl saying such a thing in the first place.
