I’d hate to be Christina Aguilera’s mother right now. I mean, domestic abuse isn’t something people want to broadcast at the best of times. Would you want your daughter telling the world about it?

Perhaps it’s a poignant song, since Christina’s on the brink of popping out her own sprog. You know, reflecting on her own childhood and all that.

Oh Mother shows off Aguilera’s powerhouse vocals on what should be an emotive and serious track. Unfortunately, the song barely has a hook, and plays so slowly that you’re just waiting for the ordeal to end.

Yes, Christina can warble along with the best of them, but regressing into early 90’s Mariah Carey with a social conscience isn’t what we want to hear.
