One of our favourite British bands, Kaiser Chiefs, have revealed the title of their latest album will be Off With Their Heads. This is the third studio album to be released by the band. It has been produced by Mark Ronson and Eliot James and is due to be released on October 13 (along with just about every new album hoping to make big sales for Christmas).

Just when you thought they’d cashed in on the Queen name enough, Brian May and Roger Taylor (along with not-quite-Freddy frontman Paul Rodgers) are squeezing a few quid more out of fans desperate to hear a bit more Queen.
The new album – the first since their Made In Heaven album in 1995 – is to be called The Cosmos Rocks. Looking back to when we first talked about the possibility of a new album in November last year, we were obviously pretty excited.

Alice Cooper. What a legend. With his trademark theatrical make-up and a gallows or guillotine always on hand to dispatch his fiendish stage persona straight to hell, Alice has left an indelible impression on the history of rock.
To celebrate the release of Alice’s 25th studio album, we thought it was a good time to look back over some of the best songs of his career. This is our Top Ten – feel free to add your own favourite Alice Cooper songs in the comments section.
10) I’m Eighteen
I’m Eighteen is the coming of age song that launched the Alice Cooper band into the limelight. Featured on their major label debut, “Love It To Death”, it’s become a heavy metal classic through the years – and the teenage angst theme would feature in future Cooper tracks like School’s Out and Teenage Lament ‘74.

Want a free McFly album? Well, here’s a one-time offer for you – buy this week’s Mail on Sunday (20th July 2008) and you’ll find a copy of their new CD radio:ACTIVE bundled inside!
Copying Prince’s giveaway of his Planet Earth album, the scruffy-haired four-piece are taking this new approach to promoting their record since splitting with their record company (Island Records) earlier this year. And while we doubt it’ll be quite the event that the Purple One’s release was, we still applaud McFly for not toeing the record company line!

Veteran rockers Crosby, Stills and Nash are to get the Johnny Cash treatment by recording an album of covers with Rick Rubin.
Rubin helped Cash reinvent himself toward the end of his career, culminating in American IV: The Man Comes Around, which is regarded as one of his best albums.
There’s no doubt that Rubin – fresh from the new Metallica album – will reinvigorate the band and produce a blinder of an album. He’s definitely the go-to guy for any band looking to revitalise their music.

It’s been eight years since Stiff Upper Lip, but AC/DC are planning to release their new album – thought to be titled Black Ice – this autumn.
According to the Electric Shock fansite, it’s scheduled for worldwide release on October 27th, but October 28th for North America. That’s right, Angus, make ‘em wait for it!

Linkin Park are no strangers to hooking up with heavy-hitting rap acts, so this collaboration with Busta Rhymes had us pretty excited. At first.
Don’t take this the wrong way guys, but after a few listens you realise you’re waiting for one of those massive Chester Bennington choruses that the LP do so well. We Made It bubbles under with tension all the way through, all sinister piano lines and gruff lyrics, but there’s no real ‘high point’ to the song and you walk away slightly disappointed.

Can you feel the fervour building up around the new Metallica album? The band has just announced the title of its ninth studio album, Death Magnetic.
As you can see from the picture, the album cover is expected to be stark white with the album title and the ‘M’ from the Metallica logo forming a pattern around it. Does anyone else remember scrawling these letters on schoolbags and books?

I’ve not bought an Alice Cooper album since Hey Stoopid, but the king of getting killed onstage is obviously still working in between rounds of golf, because Alice has a new album coming out in July!
Playing heavily to the old ’shock rock’ image, the track listing has a definite slant toward chilling titles. I remember back when Trash was released they talked about keeping the titles horror-related in line with Alice’s image, but making the content more contemporary.

I got a shout earlier today from a musician called Bradley Boyer, the guy behind a brilliant band called Auto Defiance. I’d all but stopped writing about unsigned bands because of the pitiful quality of acts that emailed me, but Auto Defiance are worth writing about!
