Spice Girls Respond To Media Reports About Cancelled World Tour

Hi! Thanks for visiting Unreality Music! If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed for regular updates.

They bailed on the big reunion tour for pretty flimsy reasons. The media reported that they were at each other’s throats. The fans who missed out went on a rampage on the Internet to complain.

Heatworld reports that one Spice Girls website has closed down in protest after 10 years supporting the group. Like the big media shits they are, they don’t bother to link to the site in question - Spice News. The Spice News moderator said this in a posting:

Spice Girls Cancel World Tour

The Spice Girls have cancelled the rest of their world tour, amid rumours of poor ticket sales and turnout.

The five piece have played reunion gigs in the UK, Canada, the US and in Madrid and Cologne but have now cancelled their shows in Australia, Argentina, and China. The girls will now finish the reunion tour in Toronto on February 26.

Rumours suggest that the two Mels have becomed disillusioned with the tour and the lack of interest in their shows and new single, and that they were instrumental in the cancellation of the future shows.

A friend told the Daily Mirror:

“Mel B wasn’t having any of it. She misses her husband and children and said she couldn’t go on. She’s also been flooded with US offers after her success on Dancing With Stars.

“Mel C agreed it was time to call it a day. She was the least excited about it. She also feared it might jeopardise her solo career.” Read more & comment »

Jay-Z To Headline Glastonbury 2008

jay-z

Glastonbury organisers are mixing it up this year: they’ve signed up Roc Boy Jay-Z to headline the festival instead of the usual array of dreary indie bands.

Event organiser Michael Eavis has indicated that they’re looking to attract a younger crowd this year. In comments to the BBC, he said that they want to “break with tradition this time and put on something totally different” and that Jay-Z “will appeal to the young people and under-25s for sure, so that’s a big pull for them”.

Vague Confirmation Of A 2008 Led Zeppelin Tour

Led-Zeppelin

We’re not ones for idle speculation here at Unreality Music. That’s why we didn’t entertain rumours of a Led Zeppelin tour to follow on from their appearance at the O2 arena.

Let’s face it, anyone who knows anything about Zeppelin would realise that Robert Plant was too excited about his album with Alison Kraus to jump straight into a Zeppelin tour. And that’s exactly what Jimmy Page confirmed recently when he spoke to the press on a promotional tour of Tokyo.

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss going on tour

plant-krauss

The Robert Plant/Alison Krauss collaboration, Raising Sand, has been amazingly successful both Stateside and here in the UK. No surprise that the two are planning to pack their bags and tour in the USA and Europe.

As you can see from our exclusive photo, Alison had some trouble understanding the concept of touring, so Robert helpfully explained by making an ‘aeroplane’ shape.

Radiohead Playing ‘Secret Gig’ At Rough Trade East shop on Brick Lane

Radiohead

Fans are already starting to queue outside an East London record store after Radiohead announced that they will play a gig there this evening.

Radiohead announced on their website today that they would be playing at the Rough Trade East shop on Brick Lane, and for those that can’t fit into the store, contingency plans have been made:

“For those who can’t get in - and it’s pretty small in there - we’ll have some screens and speakers outside, if we’re allowed. I think we are. And we’ll also webcast it,” the band said on their website.

Rough Trade director Stephen Godfory said: “It’s great confirmation of what we do. We celebrate music. It’s not just a commodity but an art form. That’s clearly got resonance with the band.”

Doors open at 7PM.

The Eagles To Hit The O2 Arena

Hit 70s rock band, The Eagles are to follow in the footsteps of The Spice Girls and Led Zeppelin and play a string of dates in London’s O2 Arena.

The legendary group, who formed in 1971, broke up in ‘81 and reformed in 1994, are expected to play hits from the 70s as well as from the more recent new Long Road Out of Eden album.

They will play the O2 on March 20, 23, 23 and 26.

Spice Girls Fail To Sell Out O2 Concert

Is Girl Power on the wane? It would certainly seem so, as newspapers reported today that despite the massive hype surrounding the Spice Girls first UK reunion show on Saturday night, there are still plenty of tickets left for tonight’s gig in the O2 Arena.

When the girls released tickets for Saturday nights opening show, the tickets sold out in 38 seconds, the girls then added 16 nights to their London schedule. However, the enthusiasm may have been ill advised, as reports suggest that internet touts are now selling tickets at only a third of their face value, in a bid to get rid of their over stock.

Maybe this lack lustre response to the first Spice Girls tour this millenium, will ensure that it is also their last! I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

Jackson Five Reunite For New Years Eve

Michael Jackson is to reunite with the rest of The Jackson Five this New Years Eve, for a glitzy perfomance on New Years Eve.

The group will put on their show at the Studio 72 club in Atlanta, which just happens to be owned by the Jermaine Dupri, the boyfriend of Janet Jackson.

“It’s the Jackson 5 Party,” Dupri exclaimed. “I swear to you it’s going to be the biggest party this town has ever seen.”

He added: “At midnight I’m gonna empty the whole club and put everyone in the parking lot and I’m going to light the lot up with a fireworks show.”
