Just when you thought they’d cashed in on the Queen name enough, Brian May and Roger Taylor (along with not-quite-Freddy frontman Paul Rodgers) are squeezing a few quid more out of fans desperate to hear a bit more Queen.
The new album – the first since their Made In Heaven album in 1995 – is to be called The Cosmos Rocks. Looking back to when we first talked about the possibility of a new album in November last year, we were obviously pretty excited.

The excitement of big name album releases this year continues, with Dr. Dre’s latest project, Detox being considered for release in “November or December”.
Dre hasn’t released a full solo album since 1999’s 2001 (confused?), but considering it took him 7 years between The Chronic and 2001, you can be fairly sure that the Doc has been putting his heart and soul into the production of this album.

After being unintentionally outed by retailer Music Dispatch, Metallica have officially announced the track listing for Death Magnetic, due out in September.
But if an over-enthusiastic retailer is what it takes to get the low-down on the highly anticipated Death Magnetic, then shouldn’t we all just be grateful?
The song titles are suitably foreboding, and could easily hark back to the golden era of thrash that we’ve all been hoping for. Titles after the jump…

Ben Folds is due to release his third solo album, Way To Normal on 30th September 2008.
Although some of the album was written during the final stages of his divorce last year, Folds says that this album is not about that. Even though the album was originally going to be titled ‘Blood On The Keyboard’…

82 year old blues legend, B.B. King is about to release a rootsy new album (we’ve lost count how many albums he’s released in his career, and suspect he has too…). Due out on 26th August through Geffen, T Bone Burnett is lending his production skills to this work.
(Seems we’re talking a lot about T Bone these days, from his work with Robert Plant and Alison Krauss to his musical direction on the Walk The Line soundtrack)

Want a free McFly album? Well, here’s a one-time offer for you – buy this week’s Mail on Sunday (20th July 2008) and you’ll find a copy of their new CD radio:ACTIVE bundled inside!
Copying Prince’s giveaway of his Planet Earth album, the scruffy-haired four-piece are taking this new approach to promoting their record since splitting with their record company (Island Records) earlier this year. And while we doubt it’ll be quite the event that the Purple One’s release was, we still applaud McFly for not toeing the record company line!

Veteran rockers Crosby, Stills and Nash are to get the Johnny Cash treatment by recording an album of covers with Rick Rubin.
Rubin helped Cash reinvent himself toward the end of his career, culminating in American IV: The Man Comes Around, which is regarded as one of his best albums.
There’s no doubt that Rubin – fresh from the new Metallica album – will reinvigorate the band and produce a blinder of an album. He’s definitely the go-to guy for any band looking to revitalise their music.

Metallica continue to drip-feed information about their Death Magnetic album, signifying that they’re working non-stop to get fans excited about this release. And it’s working.
Today they released the album artwork (above) which features a coffin and notably the classic Metallica logo rather than the modern version that graced the Load albums. We just wish we had schoolbags again to etch that logo into an old canvas bag…ahhh.

It’s been eight years since Stiff Upper Lip, but AC/DC are planning to release their new album – thought to be titled Black Ice – this autumn.
According to the Electric Shock fansite, it’s scheduled for worldwide release on October 27th, but October 28th for North America. That’s right, Angus, make ‘em wait for it!

Oasis have released the title, cover art and track listing for their 7th studio album, Dig Out Your Soul. And you thought their mate Paul Weller had exclusive rights to use the word ’soul’ in his album titles.
Maybe we’re reading too much into the Gallagher brothers’ Beatle’s fixation, but does that scrawled title within the circle below remind you just a little of the Sgt Pepper’s bass drum?
