Bodyrox wowed us a little while ago with their single Yeah Yeah, and now they return with What Planet You From? to prove it wasn’t a fluke.
I’m finding myself a little bit more enamoured with the UK dance music scene with every new release. There’s a much more creative vibe, marrying edgy vocals (like Luciana in this instance) to producers who can crank out the most amazing sounds.
Just like Yeah Yeah (which also featured Luciana on vocals), What Planet You On is a slab of addictive electro-pop that you just can’t help but like.
Maybe it’s because all this stuff sounds fresher than the other dross that’s cluttering up the charts, but I find myself veering from a guitars and drums devotee to someone who really appreciates well crafted dance music.
And well crafted this is. Bodyrox - the dynamic duo of Jon Pearn and Nick Bridges are building a catalog of excellent urban dance music that’s on a par with the brilliant disco-pop of Booty Luv. And somewhere in between lies the future of pop music I think.
