Well, after all that hanging around waiting on Blur to reunite, it’s about time Dave got a proper job. But why exactly does he want to become a politician?
Basically, Mr Rowntree (see, we can be respectful sometimes) is planning to stand for Labour in the Cities of London and Westminster. Now, he’s done this before but been unsuccessful - he came third last year in a London council by-election.
Damon Albarn’s also fairly politically motivated if I remember correctly, being one of the legion of mini-Geldofs orbiting the pop world.
Anyway, the profile of Rowntree carried by the Beeb shows that he’s not really sat idle since Blur broke up. I made that bit up like a cheap Maxim review. The guy’s a regular entrepreneur, and owns an animation studio and is bizarrely studying to become a barrister. Following in the steps of Mr Blair there, eh Dave?
Just try practicing that speech about believing there really are weapons of mass destruction…
