It’s been kind of hard to ignore this tune recently. I’m given to make comparisons with Alphabeat for the colourful video, the boy-girl vocal blend and the shouty, upbeat chorus.

And given the foaming mouthed rave review I gave Alphabeat, you can take it for granted that Black Kids are every bit as vibrant and infectious as their Danish peers.

The difference between the acts is that Black Kids have more of an Indie vibe as opposed to the pure pop of Alphabeat. They’re part of the overhyped for 2008 movement, but unlike similarly trumpeted acts, Black Kids may have more of a chance.

I’m Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend is their debut single, but it’s already getting an obscene amount of airplay here in the UK. It’s a great track, perfectly suited to the pop chart while still managing to buck the trend of boring, identikit Indie bands.
