Beyonce scoops Leona Lewis to a new Ryan Tedder song
They’re billing this as a sneaky move by Beyonce Knowles to steal a song meant for Leona Lewis.
Ryan Tedder wrote a song called Halo, which was supposedly agreed to be recorded by Leona Lewis. Tedder wrote Leona’s first big hit, Bleeding Love, and you may also remember him from his band, OneRepublic.
The bottom line is, Tedder’s a pretty hot songwriter.
However, according to this piece on Yahoo Music, Leona’s diary was full and she wouldn’t have recorded the song until next year:
An insider at SongBMG, Leona’s record label, said: "Leona’s diary is so rammed it didn’t look like she could record it until next year. Ryan didn’t want to hang around so he gave it to Beyonce".
So, you can understand Tedder wanting to get his music released at any cost, wouldn’t you?
I’d imagine the intricacies of professional songwriting mean that keeping the song for Leona would have meant running the risk of it getting dropped or not recorded at all.

It’s a relly good song but it’s clearly written for Leona..sounds like BL and it belong to her..according to me both girls should be a duet like Beutiful Liar with Shakira..
Ummm I’m not really a Beyonce fan? But screechy voice? Please. Beyonce owns this song. It’s beautiful, and a HIT. And unlike Leona, Beyonce will make this a Pop AND Urban hit. I like Leona though…and I’m pretty sure she will have no problem getting a huge pop hit next year. I loved both of her singles.

Leona was on Radio One today in the UK and said Beyonce didn’t steal Halo. She let go of the song as she thought it didn’t suit her voice!
Halo is an incredible song! & Kudos to Ryan Tedder for the amazing song writing. This sound of the song is fantastic! in fact i found ‘Halo’ to stand out from the rest of the also-fantastic songs in the album. Very signature sound of Ryan Tedder! Brilliant! Brilliant! Brilliant! Well i love Leona Lewis too! … well too bad! Cant wait for Halo video if it will be a single!
You can tell that the song was written for Leona but she was 2 slow and now Beyonce sang it and its one of my favorites beyonces voice is sooo amazing. they do have similar voices but if leona sings people will see her as a copy cat maybe they should get together and do a duet but they might drown eachother out oh well sorry leona beyonce wins
Lets put it like this: if you are an artist and you have a bangin hit record you can rest assured Ms. knowles-Carter will come and get herself a similar hit record. This is what she does, hence the name “swaggar jacker” – she aint even embarrassed about it either. LOL. So much for originality and depth. If you check out a new canadian singer by the name of Lisa Lavie you will find ONCE AGIN that Beyonce has jusmped on the idea of re-doing Angel by Sara Mcclughlin because Ms. Lavie is also planning that. Did i mention Beyonce was singing that on her Canadian tour where Ms Lavie is from. Coincidence?….I think not.
