Babyshambles Question Legitimacy Of Led Zeppelin Reunion
Hi! Thanks for visiting Unreality Music! If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed for regular updates.
Drew McConnell - the bassist from Babyshambles - asks whether the upcoming Led Zeppelin reunion is valid given that the original line-up will never be complete without John Bonham. In an interview with NME, McConnell says:
If they want to do it then why not? I’m a bit worried about them doing it without Bonham,” he said. “But I’m a big fan - particularly ‘Houses Of The Holy’ (1973 album). A lot of their records border on that supergroup pomposity, but I love this one as it’s (recorded) live and you can tell how much Moroccan squidgy they’ve been smoking and it sounds fucking great.
I took some flack for suggesting that a full reunion without Bonham would mean Led Zeppelin would be going back on the statement they made when he died. Don’t get me wrong - I’d love to see them back together for a while - but considering Led Zeppelin have been fairly true to their word over the years, I can’t see the band attempting to reinvent themselves after all this time.
However, as fans, I think we’re happy to bend the rules for one-off reunions, especially when Jason Bonham is involved in his father’s place. No problem with that at all.
I suppose my final question is, how would Babyshambles survive without Doherty?
