The larger than life, (and larger than he was last year!) pop star Robbie Williams has split once more with his song writing partner Guy Chambers.
Some of Robbies best material was written in conjunction with Guy, think “Rock DJ”, “Feel”, “Millennium”, “Let Me Entertain You” and “Angels”, but the pair parted ways in 2002. Reports emerged that Robbie’s record company was demanding that Guy work exclusively with Robbie and no other artists.
The pair reunited last year, but have parted ways for a second time after Williams discovered that Guy was working with former bandmate, Gary Barlow on ITV drama, Britannia High.
A source told The Sun: “Robbie and Guy patched up their differences last year. They had been back in the studio trying to find the spark that produced Rob’s best material.
“They gave it a go but it didn’t work out – they had both moved on. But while they were working together in LA, Guy was asked to work as part of a team with Gary on a new TV show. Read & comment »
The Spice Girls have cancelled the rest of their world tour, amid rumours of poor ticket sales and turnout.
The five piece have played reunion gigs in the UK, Canada, the US and in Madrid and Cologne but have now cancelled their shows in Australia, Argentina, and China. The girls will now finish the reunion tour in Toronto on February 26.
Rumours suggest that the two Mels have becomed disillusioned with the tour and the lack of interest in their shows and new single, and that they were instrumental in the cancellation of the future shows.
A friend told the Daily Mirror:
“Mel B wasn’t having any of it. She misses her husband and children and said she couldn’t go on. She’s also been flooded with US offers after her success on Dancing With Stars.
“Mel C agreed it was time to call it a day. She was the least excited about it. She also feared it might jeopardise her solo career.” Read & comment »
It’s the ultimate kick in the teeth. When it was released Robbie Williams waxed lyrical about how it was his best album yet, so I can just imagine how he felt when he heard that all the unsold copies of Rudebox (and there were a lot of them!) have been shipped to China, and will be used to resurface the roads there.
Feel free to insert your puns about Robbie being a ‘groundbreaking artist’ or ‘paving the way’ for other flop albums.
A source told The Mirror newspaper: “EMI often ships out unwanted CDs to China so they can be recycled.
“It’s the ultimate kick in the teeth for him. He loved this album, but going by all the unsold CDs he was obviously the only one.
“Now there’s no better use for them than to be crushed up and trampled on.”
I bet there are no Beautiful World albums in that shipment to China…….

Fans are already starting to queue outside an East London record store after Radiohead announced that they will play a gig there this evening.
Radiohead announced on their website today that they would be playing at the Rough Trade East shop on Brick Lane, and for those that can’t fit into the store, contingency plans have been made:
“For those who can’t get in - and it’s pretty small in there - we’ll have some screens and speakers outside, if we’re allowed. I think we are. And we’ll also webcast it,” the band said on their website.
Rough Trade director Stephen Godfory said: “It’s great confirmation of what we do. We celebrate music. It’s not just a commodity but an art form. That’s clearly got resonance with the band.”

Hit 70s rock band, The Eagles are to follow in the footsteps of The Spice Girls and Led Zeppelin and play a string of dates in London’s O2 Arena.
The legendary group, who formed in 1971, broke up in ‘81 and reformed in 1994, are expected to play hits from the 70s as well as from the more recent new Long Road Out of Eden album.

Take That singer, Howard Donald has been advised to step up his security after receiving many letters from a stalker.
The hunk of burning love is reportedly being followed around the country by a woman named Kendra and is contemplating hiring Beyonce’s old bodyguard, Shorty.
A source told The Daily Star: “It started several months back when she started sending him letters telling him she was his future wife.
“This woman went everywhere the band did - and she literally turned up at every hotel where the band were staying on tour.
“Lately she has become really nasty and some of the things she says in her letters are plain evil.
“As well as threats to kill if she doesn’t get her own way, she writes all sorts of kinky stuff that she wants to do to Howard. It’s like she is completely fixated with him.”
Crap…maybe I should have been more subtle in my letters….what do you think guys?
I know it’s not new, and it’s certainly not cool, but I have decided to pop up the Band Aid video for ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’ just to put you all in the Christmas spirit!
That, and to give everyone a good laugh at the bad hair and 80’s fashion….I mean how could mullets ever have been cool?

Is Girl Power on the wane? It would certainly seem so, as newspapers reported today that despite the massive hype surrounding the Spice Girls first UK reunion show on Saturday night, there are still plenty of tickets left for tonight’s gig in the O2 Arena.
When the girls released tickets for Saturday nights opening show, the tickets sold out in 38 seconds, the girls then added 16 nights to their London schedule. However, the enthusiasm may have been ill advised, as reports suggest that internet touts are now selling tickets at only a third of their face value, in a bid to get rid of their over stock.
Maybe this lack lustre response to the first Spice Girls tour this millenium, will ensure that it is also their last! I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

I came across this clip of the upcoming Spice Girls documentary, Giving You Everything, that is due to air in the UK on New Year’s Eve (BBC One, 7PM).
The best bit of the clip has to be when Victoria Beckham admits that none of the Spice Girls were the most talented people that auditioned for the band….What a surprise!
