Arctic Monkeys – Teddy Picker

Arctic-Monkeys-Teddy-Picker

Just when you think the Arctic Monkeys have finally outstayed their welcome, they come along with a tune like Teddy Picker.

I caught this on the radio during the week and loved it just for that brilliant riff that runs through the song. The Arctic Monkeys do stripped-down like it’s an art form.

The accents are slightly like listening to the cast of Emmerdale, but that’s understandable, right?

Scott notes that the lyrics take issue with some of the band’s critics:

OK, the song is a bit of a step down from “Brianstorm” and “Flourescent Adolscent”– no shame there– but what’s this? A bit of anti-canon and anti-crit talk from the Monkeys: “When did your lists replace the twist…” Hey, I resent tha– no, actually they’re right.

You just know the radio stations are going to play this one to death, but until that inevitable moment arrives, let’s just enjoy that thumping riff…
