No Hopes For A Full-Blown Led Zeppelin Tour

Bow your heads in sadness my friends, because Robert Plant himself has said that Led Zeppelin will not be doing a full tour in the wake of the Ahmet Ertegun tribute concert in November.

The Daily Express report Robert Plant has denied there will be any full-blown reunion:

Biffy Clyro – Machines

biffy-clyro-machines We’re loving the new Biffy Clyro single, Machines at Unreality Music. In fact, it’s safe to say that Biffy Clyro are fast becoming a favourite band with us.

Machines is such a beautiful, melancholy song which I believe deals with the death of singer Simon Neil’s mother. I think because the song is so obviously personal, it’s one of those tracks that you listen to and have a lump in your throat by the end.

Sex Pistols Plan More Reunion Gigs

After the rapid sell out of tickets for their London reunion gigs, The Sex Pistols have added two more shows for fans.

They will now play the Brixton Academy on 9 and 10 November in addition to their 8 November concert.

Original members John Lydon, Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock will perform at the concerts.

Jennifer Lopez – Do It Well

jennifer-lopez-do-it-well

Miss ‘Rear Of The Year’ hasn’t released many singles recently, to the extent that many of us thought the coast was clear and came out of hiding. In her pop heyday, we got tired of the gratuitous ass shots and the samey sounding singles.

New Music – Transfer

transfer Here’s another emerging band for you guys to check out – San Diego-based four-piece Transfer.

I love the retro vibe some of their songs have. Sinking Sailing is drenched in Floydian effects, beginning with a psychedelic intro and leading into a deafening conclusion.

The Kiss Of Dawn by HIM, Reviewed

kiss-of-dawn

Sometimes the image presented by a band on the covers of metal magazines just doesn’t reflect the music. If The Kiss Of Dawn is anything to go by, HIM are another of those misrepresented bands.

In fact, the video upholds gothic images of graveyards, gnarled trees and an omnipresent full moon. And during the verses, it all works well. But the chorus is so melodic and sugary, it almost crosses the line into a type of pop-rock affair. Read more & comment »

Avril Lavigne – Hot – Single Review

Well folks, she underwhelmed with her last single When You’re Gone, but can Avril Improve with new single Hot?

In Hot, she’s taken the tempo up a bit and dabbles a bit in S&M lyrics – “I wanna lock you up in my closet” etc. Apparently, the song’s a dribbling tribute to her new husband Deryck Whibley (of Sum 41 fame).

Thoughts On The Sex Pistols Reunion…

So, the big news this week is the the biggest names in punk (no children, not Green Day) – The Sex Pistols are reforming.

On one hand, it sounds like great news. This is one act people didn’t expect to see together again. On the other hand it seems like a perfect opportunity to cash in on the 30th anniversary of God Save The Queen.

The reason I’m saying that is because I read in NME today that John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten) has been mouthing off about various celebrities on Virgin Radio.
