Glastonbury fans will be asked to make a difference to climate change by reducing their carbon footprint at the festival this year.
Those attending the event will be asked to join the 1 count campaign as well as eating organic food, showering in carbon neutral showers and will be supplied with recycled toilet paper.
Festival organiser Michael Eavis explained: “We’ve put a lot of effort into focusing Glastonbury on the environment and climate change this year.
“We hope to see at least 100,000 new supporters sign up to the I Count campaign - and I’ll be the first to put my name down.”

There’s been some shifting around in the pop charts this week, as the formidable duo - Beyonce, Beyonce and Shakira, Shakira - finally get knocked off the #1 spot by McFly, McFly (sorry).
Travis, who peeked their heads into the Top 10 last week are gone again, while the Manics’ comeback single is already on the way back out. I’m most pleased to see Linkin Park enter the top 10 with What I’ve Done a powerfully miserable song that Unreality Music has yet to cover. Don’t worry, we’ll soon fix that!
What’s that? The chart? OK, here it is…..
McFly - Baby’s Coming Back: Never underestimate the buying power of teenage girls…..
Beyonce/Shakira - Beautiful Liar: Ah, this could be the start of their descent from the top 10. I’m sure both have something equally hot waiting for us, right?
Akon - Don’t Matter: There seems to be no escape from the helium-voiced R&B dude. Don’t matter though.
Scootch - Flying The Flag: Whether this was the result of some kind of misplaced patriotism or a cruel practical joke, I hope this band disappear into whatever hole they’ve been hiding in for the last few years. Seriously, can the Queen have them beheaded for treason or something? Go fly someone else’s flag! Hey, they got what they deserved.
Linkin Park - What I’ve Done: Brilliant track! Slap on too much mascara, crank the volume up on this sucker and grind on your imaginary guitar for the next 4 minutes. Sweet.
Manic Street Preachers - Your Love Alone: Not getting the radio play it deserves. On reflection, it may sound slightly dated, begging the question “Have the Manics had their day?”
Avril Lavigne - Girlfriend: Listened to her album the other day. You can really spot the singles, lots of filler in there.
Amerie - Take Control: Uh. Take control of me. Whatever you say, Amerie. Welcome to the top 10.
Well peeps, that’s your lot for tonight. Let me know your predictions for next week’s top 10 and any upcoming singles you’re liking at the moment.
Well, whaddaya think about them pop charts? We’ve got a few new entries into the Top 10 this week (yes, the week’s almost over). Let’s take a look…
Beyonce Knowles/Shakira - Beautiful Liar: Proof that the combined hip-shaking power of these uber-babes can hold off a vast array of pop-rock talent! If they used their powers for good, they could gyrate for world peace! How noble…
Gym Class Heroes - Cupid’s Chokehold: Cupid’s Chokehold has risen about 5 places since last week. I suspect the novelty is wearing off - it’s not getting the level of airplay I would have expected.
Timbaland - Give It To Me: Still can’t get enough of this song. Timbaland definitely has the magic touch when it comes to chart-topping R&B material.
Avril Lavigne - Girlfriend: Strangely, the buying power of zillions of teen girls hasn’t propelled Girlfriend to the top of the charts, but it’s still hanging in there. Down a couple of places from last week though.
Ne*Yo: Still refusing to rate this rubbish. Can we stop buying his records now? Please?
Mika - Love Today: Yay Mika! This guy is the champion of quirky pop music in the UK today. Let’s hope he keeps on shaking things up!
Mark Ronson - Stop Me: Stop Me is slowly slipping out of the Top 10 right now, but Mark’s riding a wave of publicity for his new album Version.
HelloGoodbye - Here (In Your Arms): I could try to be charitable, but I think these guys are going to be one hit wonders in a couple of weeks….
Anyone else notice the sharp fall from grace of the mighty Monkeys and Brianstorm? One week in the top ten and straight back out again (they’re at #15 this week). That’s woeful.
Predictions for next week? I think it’ll be all change this week as a lot of entries are starting to slip. I’d welcome some fresh blood, if only to see the back of bloody Ne*Yo!
Hmmm. You know when you’ve got a cracker idea for a music video, but you haven’t got a song to play behind it? That’s what Groove Armada’s Get Down is - a backing track to a funky video.
I mean, if you turn the sound off on your TV, the video for Get Down is actually pretty entertaining. You’ve got a bunch of bunny rabbits dancing in the video, but they pop off to the lav for a bit of nookie and then…suddenly there’s more rabbits. So the rabbits keep copulating and multiplying and before you know it…well, you get the idea.
The problem is, you’ve got a passable song. Not a great tune. Groove Armada are capable of better than this. And that vocal (presumably by Stush?) - I’m not even sure what language she’s singing in.
Seriously.
Verdict? Crap. A music video that’s better without the music.
Your Love Alone Is Not Enough is the first single to be released from the new Manics album, Send Away the Tigers. The song features a bizarre alliance with Nina Persson of The Cardigans.
Do you know, with the resurgence of 90’s bands at the moment, it’s like 90’s nostalgia has already started. The problem is, when you get a wave of nostalgia, you get bands reforming to cash in. In the case of the 90’s, most of the bands haven’t even broken up yet. It’s like they were hibernating or something….
Amerie. An artist with a deadly fear of wearing trousers. She looks a bit like Myleene Klass, doesn’t she? I sometimes like to imagine she’s from a parallel universe where Myleene had a music career instead of doing the lad’s mag circuit and taking cold showers in the jungle. Still, both girls run around in their pants a lot.
